2013

I’ve always called Suffolk County home and I’m proud to have served as the Suffolk County Legislator for the 8th district since 2013.

Growing up in Holbrook, graduating from Sachem High School, and St. Joseph’s College, I know how tough it can be to find a job and raise a family here on Long Island. That's why as your Legislator I've been advocating for the middle class to get their fair share and fighting to get taxpayer dollars back in the hands of our residents.

I am proud to say that during my terms, I have fought to end automatic pay increases for elected officials, increased government transparency by strengthening the legislature’s reporting requirements for lobbyists, and finally put an end to a decade’s long debate by putting forward legislation to consolidate the Treasurer’s office and the Comptroller’s office, saving over $1.29 million. Additionally I created regional planning alliances, which will facilitate coordination between municipalities as we work to implement the Suffolk County Master Plan and support regionally significant development projects. I did this in an effort to get people back to work, get shovels in the ground, and to get our major projects moving forward.

Furthermore, I helped to implement a Peer to Peer Drug Program in the Sachem School District, aimed at preventing drug use at the middle and high school levels. I also fought to put stricter penalties on parents who do not pay their child support, put an end to speed zone cameras, and created the first handicapped accessible playground in the Sayville community.

This year I'll be advocating to save $2.65 million through another government consolidation. I recently put forward legislation to put a referendum on the 2017 ballot focused on reducing the size of the Suffolk County Legislature from 18 members down to just 13 - making government more efficient and creating a significant cost savings for our taxpayers.

I am proud of my record and plan to continue to fight for you by creating more economic development, facilitating business creation and expansion, revitalizing our downtowns, protecting and preserving our environment, and reducing government waste.
